A case of serious stacking at the lower arcade solved without extractions.
What's that? The dental stacking occurs when the space available to hold the teeth is insufficient.
Cause. The lack of space may be due to an excessive size of the teeth, a small or narrow bone (mandibula or maxilar), an incorrect position of the teeth (for example that are excessively tipped back by reducing the length of the arcade), or to an eruption of the judgment teeth (controversial theory as it's unclear if there's a direct relationship) among other reasons.
Consequences: at an aesthetic and functional level (teeth are bad), an increased risk of gum problems (periodontal) as it is more difficult to avoid frying.
Treatment: Orthodontics. Each individual case should be studied to assess the cause of the space problem and what's best solution. At times you can avoid performing parts extractions (you can gain space with expansion, stripping, proclination of incisors for example), but this isn't possible and recommends in all cases, as anatomical boundaries have to be respected to avoid other long-term problems.
