Summary: Retirement of periodontal tissues has always been the best goal of periodontal therapy. The principle of guided tissue regeneration (RTG) is based on placing a barrier at an intimate contact with the tooth so that the periodontal defect will be colonized only by cells of the periodontal ligament, with the regeneration of new radicular cement, periodontal ligament and alveolar bone occurring.
