Multidisciplinary treatment: Orthodontic treatment and porcelain veneers. Class 3, diastema (gap between teeth).

15-year-old male shows:

Skeletal class III malocclusion caused by maxillary hypoplasia.

• Open bite.
• Border-to-border cross-lateral relation.
• Anterior crossbite in maximum intercuspation.
• Diastema
• Bolton Discrepancy of defect in the upper arch: upper incisors are too narrow.

Orthodontic treatment:

Once the different options for treatment have been explained to the patient, we decide to perform a dentoalveolar compensation of the type skeletal class III, and to place porcelain veneers to improve the smile aesthetics.

Spaces in the lower arch are closed, and those in the upper arch are rearranged.

The upper incisors are slightly extruded so that they become more visible when the patient smiles.

An expansion of the upper arch is carried out with archwires in order to correct the cross-lateral relation and fill the buccal corridors.

Type of orthodontic appliances: vestibular orthodontic appliances. Metal braces.

Length of treatment: 18 months.
